A CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS

The Transatlantic Roundtable on Religion and Race invites presentation proposals for its 2023 conference which will take place in Lusaka Zambia from July 10th through to July 14th. Zambia as a nation and Africa as a continent is home to a dynamic and rapidly growing youth population. This offers exciting potential in relation to economic development, political and community engagement and spiritual renaissance for the continent and wider diaspora. Alongside the potential there is risk of unfulfilled dreams, alienation and social and political unrest if youth development is not realised. For this conference we invite presentations that will explore the unfolding dynamics of youth engagement, population change and its implications for political, economic, cultural and religious institutions across Africa and the Diaspora.

Themes to be addressed include:

  • Youth Engagement in Political, cultural and Religious Institutions.
  • Migration and Economic Development in Africa and the Diaspora
  • Spirituality and Community Development.
  • Health and Wellbeing in local, national and global contexts.
  • Ethical Leadership and Accountability
  • International Advocacy and Justice for African descendant communities.
  • Next Generation Thought and Practice.
  • Transnationalism in religious and political action.

We invite scholarly papers or practice-based analysis related to these themes or the broader conference theme of next generation nation building. We are particularly interested in work that focuses on faith-based responses to the themes outlined. Contemporary and historical analysis of these contexts are welcome. Best practices presentations and scholarly papers should be outlined in an abstract of 250 words or fewer and emailed by 30th April, 2023 to Dr. William Ackah [email protected] Dr. R.Drew Smith [email protected] Dr. Rosemary Chilufya [email protected]
