Dr. William Ackah ((Host, 2012) is lecturer in the Department of Education and Social Policy at Birkbeck, University of London where he specialises in teaching and research on political and community development of African diasporic communities. He is also the Programme Director of the BSc Community Development and Public Policy and the award winning Certificate in Community Leadership (winner of the 2009 THES award for outstanding contribution to the local community). He was previously Head of Widening Participation at the University of Bristol and has previously taught at Edge Hill University and the University of Liverpool. He was co-chair of the Aimhigher Black and Minority Ethnic Education Steering Group and is currently a board member of the Social Policy Think Tank, Race on the Agenda.
